We would like to take this opportunity to officially wave good-bye to Winter and welcome SPRING!!  We know you have been working hard and we are, too.  Check out our new BIPS Done For You service and our new website layout.  As always, we welcome your thoughts and/or ideas to make your life at work easier!

SPOTLIGHT ON   BEATRIZ REA

Written by Kevin Wright, Director of Marketing and Project Management

We sat down with Beatriz Rea, Planned Giving Director for the "Capuchin Franciscan Friars" this month to find out what BIPS does to make Beatriz's job a little easier at this well known and reputable Non-Profit.

Beatriz admits she "fell into" Planned Gift Administration quite by accident.  It all began four years ago when Beatriz joined the Capuchin Franciscan Friars for a few months to cover the Director of Finance while in maternity leave.  Beatriz ended up staying at the Capuchins with a different role, to reactivate a 8 years inactive Planned Giving program.  Beatriz recalls (as I'm sure many of us can relate) boxes and boxes of files to sort through and bequests to keep track of.  In short, the job was impossible for 1 person to administer.

It was then that a peer at another Non-Profit suggested Beatriz look into BIPS for her Planned Giving Administration.  She called Susan at BIPS for a demonstration of our software and hasn't looked back since.  Now, instead of room filled boxes and file cabinets she has access to everything at her fingertips on her laptop, mobile so the data goes where Beatriz goes.  "It's truly amazing how much time your software saves me" Beatriz tells us.  She has cut her work load nearly 40% by administering everything through BIPS.  Now, instead of piles of reminder notes, hundreds of files and paperwork....BIPS does all the reminding and paperwork organizing for her.  Her favorite features include tracking and forecasting features of the software and she even uses BIPS to help in Friars' prospecting.

BIPS also helps her keep in touch with attorneys and financial advisors so the Friars never miss a bequest they would otherwise have missed without the software.  Beatriz admits "One person can now do the work of four", and that's what we like to hear from our happy clients that really take full advantage of everything our software has to offer.

We at BIPS want to thank Beatriz Rea of the Capuchin Franciscan Friars for taking time out of her busy schedule to sit down with us and give an honest assessment of how our software works for her and the Non-Profit she works for.

Beatriz has been a Planned Giving Director for four years, she was born in Madrid, Spain and currently resides in New Jersey just outside of New York City.

Death on Vacation

During their vacation and while they were visiting Jerusalem, George's mother-in-law died.  With death certificates in hand, George went to the American Consulate Office to make arrangements to send the body back to the states for proper burial.

The Consul, after hearing of the death of the
mother-in-law told George that the sending of a body back to the states for burial is very, very expensive. It could cost as much as $5,000.

The Consul continues, "In most cases the person responsible for the remains normally decides to bury the body here. This would only cost $150.00."

George thinks for some time and answers, "I don't care how much it will cost to send the body back; that's what I want to do."

The Consul, after hearing this, says, "You must have loved your mother-in-law very much considering the difference in price."

"No, it's not that," says George.

"You see, I know of a case years ago of a person that was buried here in Jerusalem. On the third day he arose from the dead!  I just can't take that chance.
